Each one of the 50 things will be a fun activity for the child to take part in with his or her caregiver; examples of the 50 things could be going to the seaside, making a snowman or feeding a donkey. However, there will be extensive research carried out
into each and every activity to identify its link to language and oracy. Watching the sun set with your child creates a conversation rich with details; Look how the colours change as the sun sets. What shape is the sun? I wonder where does it go when it moves
out of sight? Compare and contrast the different sunsets throughout the seasons. This all encourages your child to communicate and think about the language they’re using.
Anyone who works with, or has an interest in the development of young children are welcome to get on board. You could be anyone from a parent, relative or family friend to a health visitor, midwife or paediatrician. We’ll need to collaborate with those who
are interested in getting involved, in order to produce a final list of what those 50 things will look like.
