Thought Bubble Festival at Bradford Libraries – Team Muhafiz & Star Wars
Comic Art Workshops
Bradford Libraries are delighted to have teamed up with Leeds Sequential Art Festival – Thought Bubble to offer two fantastic free comic art workshops.
We have: -
1. Team Muhafiz Comic Book Workshops with Imran Azhar, comic book artist & founder of AzCorp, Pakistan.
The I am a Hero interactive workshop will provide the opportunity for pupils to create heroes with positive values; identify grass-root challenges in their community and develop ways to tackle these challenges with the help of their very own created
heroes. Children are encouraged to identify real-life unsung heroes from their communities or lives.
Team Muhafiz, the comic series, was shortlisted for the National Innovation Award in 2015 and 2016 in Art & design by the Pakistan Innovation Foundation. The comic book series was launched in 2015 and brings together 10 multi-ethnic, interfaith adolescent
heroes at a local “youth centre”. Together, they combat villains that embody present-day injustices, radicalism and key social, economic and development challenges. It has brought sensitive and difficult concepts to the consciousness of young people across
Pakistan as well as globally. Team Muhafiz workshops have been used in schools in including 20 slum schools in Karachi, Pakistan.
