You are invited to be part of the UK's first ever Dragon Boat Youth Championship based here in Bradford This is a fun and educational day out which promotes participation in sport, team work, health, wellbeing and community cohesion and encourages young people to take pride in their city.

The event will run on Friday 5th May 9:30am – 2:30pm. Racing will take place on the river Aire at Robert’s park in Saltaire.

It is a free to participate charity event, which this year will be supporting Lord Mayor’s Charity Young Minds, the UK’s leading charity committed to improving the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people.

Each boat can contain up to 17 people – 1 drummer and 16 paddlers. You can register your boat by going on the Dragon Boat Festival website and clicking on the Youth Dragon Boat Championship.  Registration must be completed before Wednesday 26th April and will be on a first come first served basis. Please hurry up as places are limited!

Categories include:

  • Junior Years 7-9
  • Senior Years 10-13
  • Mixed 8 Junior and 8 Senior paddlers
  • Disability Years 11-25

Prizes will be awarded in each race category.

There will be other fun and team building activities for young people to take part in on the day including:

  • Climbing tower
  • Rodeo bull
  • Volleyball
  • Lawn croquet
  • Problem solving and challenge stations

And many more things that will keep you entertained throughout the day.

If you wish to sponsor a boat, a contribution of £250 per boat would be welcome.
