Training in March - Clicker 6(7) and signing and Down syndrome

Training to help school staff and others, working with children and young people who have Down syndrome, to improve language and communication skills.


Session 1 – Friday 17th March 2017     Session 2 – Friday 24th March  2017


Time:    9.30am until 11.30am


Venue:  2 Whitley Street, Bingley, BD16 4JH – car park at the rear of the building.

If this is full, there is parking available on the nearby streets but please check parking restrictions.  We are a short walk from Bingley train station.


Cost:    £80 per professional (£20 for additional people from same school) /£20 family member

            The cost covers both sessions.


Session 1,  will cover, why we use signing with children with Down syndrome and the signs for manners, animals,  food, family and other people, and the alphabet.


Session 2,  will cover signs for the home, school day, colours, descriptions, time/days,  questions and connective/link words. Followed by a discussion on how behaviour can be addressed through introducing signing.  Both sessions will include practise of useful phrases and familiar children’s songs.

Clicker 6 is a fantastic programme enabling users to build their own sentences, make talking books by recording their own voice, make word and picture banks for topics and much more.


The training (over 2 mornings) will introduce Clicker 6 and demonstrate its many features. It will include activities to help you create word banks, sentence building grids, talking books and picture/word/sound matching activities. Clicker 7 differences will also be detailed.


Places will be limited to 10.


We do have limited access to Clicker 6 at the Centre, however if you already have Clicker 6 loaded on a laptop we encourage you to bring it along. Please let us know when you book whether you are able to bring a laptop*.
