Joint Targeted Area Inspection
We were informed on the Tuesday 14th February that Bradford has been selected for a Joint Targeted Area Inspection (JTAI). Preparation and submission of documentation commences immediately with inspectors on site from the 27th February
for five days.
JTAI is a partnership inspection which includes twelve inspectors from four inspectorates: Ofsted, CQC, HMIC and the Inspectorate of Probation. The inspection will focus on the multi – agency Front Door to children’s social care, the “deep dive” theme
of “Children living with domestic abuse” and our leadership and management arrangements as a partnership. Inspectors will undertake a review of cases across agencies, and ask us to arrange any discussions or meetings they require with local politicians,
partners, managers, staff, parents and children.
This is an inspection of how we work as a partnership to protect and support children living with domestic abuse. The role that schools play in identifying and supporting children at risk of domestic abuse is critical. Inspectors have not at this stage
asked to come to see schools, but they may well ask to do so, and will want to visit any of the children that are identified through the audit process. The role of schools in delivering PSHE work around safeguarding and recognising unhealthy relationships;
one to one support offered by learning mentors and teachers; as well as referrals to early help and to social care are all part of the jigsaw of what we do as a District.
The district will not receive a ‘graded’ judgement from the inspectorates, but we will receive a letter outlining the results and outcomes; our areas of strength and any areas for future improvement / developmental work.
Very best wishes
