Circle of Friends is an approach to inclusion, participation, friendship and problem solving across a broad range of needs and also to support transition or address bullying.
- It works by developing empathy and support within the peer group via a structured format to elicit genuine peer support and create a greater opportunity for successful relationships with peers.
- It has been used successfully to improve behaviour and include pupils with complex learning needs, including social communication difficulties.
This session will provide participants with an understanding of the Circle of Friends approach and why it is effective as well as a step by step guide to setting up and running Circle of Friends groups in schools
