Fuel for School, is a natioal project created by The Real Junk Food Project to empower young people to REALLY feed the world, by:
- Removing hunger as a barrier to learning and to improve educational outcomes for the children of the school.
- Enabling schools and their families to have access to surplus food on a Pay As You Feel (PAYF) basis.
- To educate children about food waste issues. We currently work with 40 Primary Schools in Leeds, diverting 3.2 tons of perfectly edible food to approximately 12,000 children, parents and teachers.
- The success of the project in the 1st year has earned Nathan Atkinson our Co-founder the nomination of Top 50 Finalists of the Global Teacher.
Prize: http://www.globalteacherprize.org/2017-finalists/ and we have recently been featured on Jamie Oliver’s Friday Night Feast over Christmas 2016, of which Jamie was quoted saying that
Fuel for School ‘should be in every school in the UK’, we are now expanding our reach into the Bradford area.
