Make sure your schools gets their healthy eating teaching packs

Every primary school that is part of the School Fruit and Veg Scheme (SFVS) will receive new healthy eating teaching packs from early January.

The resources will fit in with Our Healthy Year to create a healthier school culture with ideas for the whole school and curriculum-linked activities for Reception and Year 6 pupils.

Schools will also receive copies of the consumer pack for pupils to take home in their book bags.

The teaching packs have been designed for Key Stage 1 and 2 and include lesson plans, assembly presentations and suggestions for how to get the whole school involved.

From 3 January the 'School Zone' will have a range of resources available for primary teachers, and will provide curriculum-linked materials and inspiration to help them teach pupils about healthy eating and being active.

The latest teacher newsletter is available here for you to share with other teachers.

Schools can get more information about the School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme on the NHS choices website and downloading the School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme factfile. (http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/5ADAY/Pages/Schoolscheme.aspx)
