Best practice as identified by Ofsted and the curriculum.
Real exploration of the use of models and images in the teaching of mathematical concepts.
Observing the use of models and images in class.
Exploring teaching a concept using models and images.
Planning a sequence of lesson using models and images.
Gap task - Use of models and images for objectives to teach in the future.
Session 2: Fluency – Thursday 16th February 2017 - 9.00 -12.00

Session overview:
What is fluency?
How the brain works including working and long term memory. Implications for teaching.
Recall facts within the Maths curriculum.
Practical ways to develop fluency including time in class and the use of relevant resources.
Gap Task - Plan and teach number facts as part of your maths lessons. Plan activities that will develop fluency and deep learning, so that pupils can then recall and apply facts.
Session 3: Planning and Assessment – Thursday 30 March 2017 - 9.00 – 12.00

Session overview
Bringing together aspects from the earlier part of the training and see how to use it when planning and delivering.
Plan lessons to support application of mathematics and give a clear learning journey to children.
Look at the structure of lessons and how to use the whole session effectively.
Use assessment throughout lessons to support match for pupils.
Opportunity to see delivery of maths lessons.
Gap Task - To plan a series of sessions which include guided sessions and report back in these.
Session 4 - Review – Thursday 25 May 2017 – 9.00 – 12.00 - Lapage Primary School, BD3 8QX

The programme is funded by Bradford Commissioning Board and as such is provided at no cost to participants. A charge will be made for bookings that are cancelled within a week prior to the first session or for non-attendance at more than 2 sessions.
