Say Goodbye to Karen Thewlis, Head of the Autism Team

Karen Thewlis, Head of the Autism Team in Teaching Support Services is retiring after over 20 years working with children with Autism in Bradford.

Karen has had a long and varied career in Autism. This includes teaching in a special school working with very complex children with Autism. Karen became a valued member of the Autism Team in 1990. Her work included the setting up and running of a Pre 5 intervention for children with social communication needs as well as becoming a manager for the Pre 5 team. This provision was valued by staff and parents as a valuable resource for children and their families. More recently Karen was promoted to Head of the AS Team and for a number of years has led and managed the team successfully negotiating the changes imposed by the current climate. We will miss Karen but know she has great plans for the future.

To celebrate her work here in Bradford you are invited to a celebration event in the View Room at Margaret McMillan Towers, Princes Way, BD1 1NN on Monday, 5 December from 12.30pm until 2.30pm.

There will be drinks and cakes available and Karen will love to see you for a chat.

Note: This is a drop in and low key event. You are invited to attend anytime between 12.30 -2.30. Please RSVP with your time of arrival to Adele.Charlesworth@bradford.gov.uk

If you cannot attend you are welcome to send a message to Karen via Adele. We will make sure Karen receives this on the day.
