Primary Schools Young Carers Designated leads

Has your Primary School identified the member of staff responsible for young carers?

Bradford Young Carers are working towards getting every primary school across the district to have a named member of staff responsible for young carers.

Last year we did this for all high schools and achieved this so our aim this year is to do the same for primaries.

The expectation for this member of staff is to be a link for us in the school for any young carers we are working with and obviously to be someone young carers can go to in their school should their education be impacted upon due to their caring role.

To do this role we offer training (£50) and provide the staff member with a resource pack.  We already have a number of primary schools who have identified a member of staff but many more that haven't.

Can you please contact me on kerry.mckenna@barnardos.org.uk to let me know who the staff member will be from your school or to tell you if you have one and who it is?

We are offering training throughout the year and the next one will be on 14 December (various time slots to choose from) so I can provide this information once I have the named member of staff.

Thank you.
