Do you need resources, ideas and the confidence to tackle the topic of public and private actions, body parts, appropriate greetings, social boundaries, changes through puberty, recognising and managing feelings, personal hygiene and safety in the community?
Our course, ME, my body, my friends, my life tackles all of these issues in an open and honest way empowering both teachers and parents to address issues that often get pushed to one side in the hope they will ‘go away’ or are left until unwanted
behaviours begin to cause inclusion difficulties. Many topics are relevant from the age of 6 years.
This course will run over 5 Wednesdays, 9.30-12.00pm
5th, 12th, 19th October, 2nd, 9th November
The course will cover:
Week 1: How important SRE is for young people with learning disabilities. Names for body parts. Privacy.
Week 2: Puberty for girls, puberty for boys,
Week 3: Feelings, personal hygiene, self help skills.
Week 4: Self touch, touching, hugging, affection, friendships,
relationships and dating.
Week 5: Safety in the community. Assertiveness. Abuse
prevention strategies. SRE in schools.
The signs for this topic are also covered and now available in a book.
£150 per professional (£50 for a second professional from the same organisation)/£50 per parent. This is for the 5 week course and includes a folder of handouts and a memory stick of resources for you to take and keep.
