DfE funded project providing FREE TRAINING - Teaching for Neurodiversity

Dyslexia Action, BDA and PATOSS are running a project to train schools on Teaching for Neurodiversity. “Free Train the Trainer” events are being held across England from September 2016. Schools will be able to send a maximum of 2 teaching staff who will then cascade the training in their school.

Please note, they will require a commitment from both the school and attendees to cascade the training to all colleagues and to complete evaluation questionnaires

The Leeds Events are:

  • Thursday 3rd Nov - primary
  • Tuesday 8th Nov -secondary
  • Saturday 12th Nov - post 16

Summary of the Training

You will learn about:

  • The range of neurodiversities
  • How different Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs) overlap
  • Identifying the signs of SpLDs
  • Teaching strategies to support learners with neurodiversity
  • How to pass knowledge learnt on to your colleagues

You will be given:

  • Tools to help identify and build SpLD profiles
  • Access to informative resources on neurodiversity and SpLDs
  • Information about how to signpost for further actions
  • Knowledge and skills to help you and your team meet the requirements of the SEND Code of Practice
