Film Literacy Project 2016 Opportunity - free introductory meeting 21 Sep

This 1 year research project has been designed & funded by BFI, CapeUK, Curriculum Innovation & Into Film. The project will be assessed by independent researchers to evaluate the impact short film can have on the engagement, progress and attainment of literacy in Year 5 pupils.

Over the last five years the Curriculum Innovation team has delivered extensive CPD programmes with schools in Bradford, Calderdale and Wales enabling teachers to effectively utilise and create short films to increase engagement and raise attainment in literacy. The projects have given teachers and pupils the skills, knowledge and confi dence to use short film within their literacy lessons, providing a visual text to improve inference and deduction as well as providing a scaffold to develop writing.

The CPD programme is for Year 5 teachers from 2 form entry primary schools. The content has been honed over several years to provide maximum impact in the classroom by allowing staff to utilise their new skills, knowledge and understanding effectively within their literacy lessons.

The project is heavily subsidised but participating schools will be asked to contribute £250 towards the project costs. If you are interested in participating in this project please see the attached flyer and register online here to attend the Film Literacy introductory meeting on 21 Sep from 4pm-5.30pm to find out more about this exciting CPD opportunity.
