IOSH Managing Safely Training
The Health and Safety Executive has strongly recommended that at least one member of a school management team undertakes appropriate health and safety training. 'IOSH Managing Safely' meets this requirement and will equip school managers with the minimum
basic knowledge needed to deal with health and safety issues effectively on a day to day basis. The Occupational Safety team always strongly recommends that a senior member of staff completes this course (if they haven't already) during our routine visits.
We have had (almost) exclusively positive feedback with comments along the lines of 'what an eye opener' and 'I never realised the importance of health and safety before'. The course aims to bust myths, but also arms you with the tools to approach health
and safety in a balanced and proportionate manner.
Please note that the course is aimed at staff in a managerial role - 'working safely' is more appropriate for many site staff - please see this
article for further info.
The course is delivered in a classroom environment (2 days one week, 2 days the next).
