Book Bus is a British charity, founded 10 years ago, which fills buses with books, and takes them into rural Zambia, Malawi and Ecuador to work with children and teachers in their schools.
I'm the librarian/ICT person at Sandal in Baildon, and I'm going to Zambia for the third time with Book Bus in the summer.
As part of the promotion of the charity, and in particular its 10th anniversay, I've been involved in storytelling events combining traditional African stories with anecdotes from the Book Bus.
If anyone's interested in finding out more, I can deliver a collection of stories, photos and anecdotes to primary children of pretty much any age (I've worked with reception and nursery children here, upto college students at Selby. I'm also telling tales
at Salts Mill Bookshop on April 23rd (noon-4pm), and at Waterstones in Leeds on the 21st (after school).
Most Fridays upto the Summer holidays are free (as is the session), so if you're interested, please get in touch! :-)
