The school has received a letter from the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Childcare and Education, saying Hill Top is "one of the most improved schools in the country in terms of the attainment and progress of disadvantaged pupils since 2011".

Hill Top CE Primary School has won a local award in the key stage 2 category of the Pupil Premium Awards 2016. In his letter to the school, Sam Gyimah MP invited Hill Top to submit an application to win the regional or national award.

You can read the letter attached here in which Mr Gyimah congratulates governors, parents and pupils for their hard work and the headteacher for his leadership.

After receiving the letter, Des Martin, Headteacher at Hill Top, said: "We are thrilled with this recognition and it is reflective of the hard work put in by all our staff to ensure all our children reach their full potential. We have a number of key staff who make crucial differences in the way in which they support our disadvantaged and more vulnerable children. A rich curriculum where children enjoy their learning is crucial to all our children's development and progress and we feel we offer this here at Hill Top."
