Celebrate World Book Day Thursday 3rd March 2016 at Bradford Libraries
with authors Caryl Hart and Margaret Mulligan
Bradford Libraries are delighted that we can offer schools three events for World Book Day on Thursday 3rd March with two children’s authors - Caryl Hart and Margaret Mulligan.
Firstly, we have Caryl Hart. Caryl is an award winning children’s author http://carylhart.com/. She has written over twenty children’s picture books including the popular Albie series. She will be reading and talking about her book
How To Catch A Dragon, which features Albie. The children will also have time to do a simple dragon craft. Caryl will be at Manningham Library 1.30pm – 2.30pm. The session is suitable for Y2 or Y3 and is free of charge. We have places for
60 children from two schools. We will offer one place (30 children max) per school.
Secondly, we have Margaret Mulligan, author of Katy Parker and the House That Cried.
Margaret is a history teacher and new author from Bloomsbury Publishing. The story is about Katy, a young girl assigned a school history project on WW2, only to find that her research takes a strange turn, when she and her brother find themselves waking
up in 1940s England. Can Katy change the course of history and prevent the tragic death of a little girl in a terrifying air raid? Margaret will be reading extracts from her book and discussing events with the children. The children will also take part in
an activity to consider what they would choose to take if they were evacuated. Margaret will be at City Library for two sessions from 9.30am – 10.30am and 10.45am – 11.45am. The session is suitable for Y5 or Y6 and is free of charge. We have places for 30
children from two schools. We will offer one place (15 children max) per school.
