Today is the last day to nominate the heroes of our district’s schools for the Telegraph & Argus Schools Awards 2016.
The awards were set up to recognise people from all areas of education, such as teachers, heads and support staff at all levels, and this year there is a new category to celebrate school governors. The awards have been organised by the T&A in partnership
with Bradford Council and several other sponsors.
Anyone – including parents, teachers, heads, governors and pupils – can make nominations in any of the 12 categories. An expert panel will narrow the nominees down to a shortlist who will be celebrated at the lavish awards ceremony on 10th March.
The categories are: Nursery/Primary Teacher of the Year;
Secondary Teacher of the Year; Newcomer of the Year (for those who have been teaching for less than two years);
Supporting Staff Member of the Year (open to people in non-teaching roles);
Volunteer of the Year; the Leadership Award (open to heads and school leaders); the
Community Involvement Award (for schools that make a positive impact in their local area); the
Governor of the Year Award; the Achievement Award (celebrating a school’s or an individual's outstanding achievements in any area of school life); the
Improvement Award (recognising schools that have improved significantly over the last 12 months); the
Science and Technology Award (for schools or teachers doing amazing work in STEM subjects); and the
Business in Schools Award (to recognise partnerships between schools and business, arts groups or other organisations).
Voting closes on Friday, 15th January – please take a few minutes to submit your nominations to ensure the district’s education stars get the public recognition they deserve.
