Self-Harm – Initiating a Public Mental Health Response

Aimed at universal services practitioners concerned about self-harming behaviour in the children and young people that they work with.

Course aims and objectives:

Aim:  Networking event aimed at initiating a District-wide Network to share good practice in protection, support and recovery.

Objectives:

  • Promote understanding of the scale of self-harm in its ‘hidden’ and ‘not so hidden’ forms;
  • Identify, directly from young people, the actions that support healthy coping choices;
  • Describe the key features of an evidence based self-harm protocol;
  • Initiate a District-Wide Self-harm Network for Universal and Targeted practitioners.
