Industrial Centres of Excellence (ICE) - Factory Open Evenings

An opportunity for potential young engineers to take a look behind the scenes of modern manufacturing.

The Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (ICE), based in Keighley Campus, will be holding a series of open evenings where potential young engineers and their parents can take a look behind the scenes of modern manufacturing. Many people in the area are not aware of the often clean and high tech environment that many engineers now work in. The open evenings start on October 15th between 4.00pm – 6.00pm with Airedale Springs Ltd who are based in state of the art premises in Bridgehouse Lane, Haworth.

This is a unique opportunity for the general public to see what really goes on in modern engineering. The companies on the ICE Board and in the Aire Valley are involved in some amazing cutting edge work and export around the globe. Keighley Campus want to make people aware of the potential that a career in engineering offer,s and bust the myth that it is an unpleasant working environment. Modern engineering offers excellent opportunities for all bright young people and we are particularly keen to encourage more girls to get involved.

To book your place email ice@leedscitycollege.ac.uk or call Chris Stott on 07825 058 223.

Also, the industrial Centre of Excellence currently has a number of apprenticeship vacancies available now with local companies and would like to hear from young people interested in a career in this fantastic sector. Candidates must have five A-C grade GCSEs which should include a B in Maths.
