Following on from our much-acclaimed 27 performance tour last year, we are delighted to invite your pupils to a unique and special event – a screening of the much loved film, The Snowman, accompanied by a live 26-piece professional orchestra. The Paragon
Film Orchestra comprises first class musicians, many of whom are members of major orchestras such as the BBC Philharmonic and the Hallé.
This is a wonderful opportunity for your pupils to experience the thrill of live music underpinning an iconic film. The children will witness the beautiful score coming to life, and the power of music close-up. The performance provides the perfect opportunity
to fulfil two of the main aims of the music National Curriculum: "to appreciate and understand a wide range of high-quality live music from great composers and musicians" and "to use their voices expressively and creatively by singing songs and speaking chants
and rhymes". Many schools also appreciate the opportunity to take their pupils on an informative, yet fun, festive trip as a viable alternative to the pantomime.
The concert will open with a specially written Christmas Overture, followed by a festive guide to the orchestra. All the instruments are presented in a fun and approachable way, offering the young audience members the valuable experience of seeing - and
hearing - the instruments individually. These include seldom seen instruments such as the celeste, cor anglais and bass clarinet. Popular favourites tend to be the harp and the naughty drummer!
There will then be a selection of well known movements from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite, surely the most Christmassy of all seasonal music. This year, for the first time ever, we will show newly commissioned animation on the big screen to complement and
enhance the beautiful music. We're incredibly excited about this development and hope it will help our younger listeners to connect even more with the music, with the visual aid supporting their understanding and appreciation.
The Snowman film will then be projected onto the screen, accompanied by a local child soloist singing the timeless “Walking In The Air”. It's going to be magical....
There will be a schools' performance on Thursday 17 December 2015 at 1:30pm.
It will take place at St George's Hall, Bradford and lasts for 1 hour 20 minutes (incl. interval).
ALL tickets are priced at £10 plus 1 free accompanying teacher / adult ticket with every 10 pupil tickets purchased. Contact the box office on 01274 432000
Please be aware that, on previous occasions, the schools' performances have sold out within weeks of being offered for sale.
This is a very special opportunity; we do hope you will take advantage of this offer to let the children from your school enjoy a truly magical and unforgettable experience.
