We are delighted to invite you to attend Pathways to Prosperity, a conference that will bring together key stakeholders to discuss how we will meet the challenge of preparing the Bradford District for the 21st Century. The conference is taking place on
Wednesday, 7 October at Cedar Court Hotel, Bradford from 16:45 – 19:45.
The conference, which is targeted at education providers, businesses and VIPs from across the Bradford District, will provide the opportunity to influence a new model for delivering education and careers. The model will be embedded in the education, skills
and employment infrastructure and will support young people and adults into a wide range of high-wage, high-skills and high demand careers in sectors that are important in Bradford and the surrounding economies.
Your attendance is critical to ensuring that we build momentum with this important agenda.
Delegates will be welcomed to the conference in an official opening ceremony that will take place at 16:45. There will be inputs from Mike Cowlam, Strategic Director for Regeneration and Culture; Michael Jameson, Strategic Director for Children’s Services;
and Frank Clayton, Chair of the newly-formed Workforce Development Advisory Committee and Head of Group Learning and Development at NG Bailey.
The main keynote address will be delivered by Dr Deirdre Hughes, OBE, a senior consultant and Principal Research Fellow at the University of Warwick’s Institute for Employment Research (IER). She specialises in careers, employment and skills’ policies, research
and practices at a national, EU and international level. Dr Hughes has acted as an expert adviser to Ministers in the four home nations of the UK (2011-2015). She is currently Chair of the DfE/CfBT senior advisory board promoting the new ‘Core Maths Support
programme’ across England. Her latest report ‘London Ambitions: Shaping a successful careers offer for all young Londoners’ was recently launched by Boris Johnson MP, Mayor of London.
There will also be an opportunity for delegates to take part in workshops and seminars focussed on specific themes that are being developed as part of the new model. Registration, networking and light refreshments will available from 16:00.
