Prom Shop @ Brathay - initiative to help young by young people

Young people who attend alternative education provision at Brathay Trust have devised a new scheme to give young people the opportunity to purchase a prom outfit at an affordable price so they will not miss out on their proms!

The Prom Shop is the brain child of the young people themselves.  They came up with the idea of setting up an affordable Prom shop after a number of their friends didn’t go to their school proms because they could not afford expenesive dresses and outfits.

The Prom Shop is based in Cathedrals Hall, Stott Hill in Bradford's centre and is open regularly on Saturday afternoons from 12.30 to 4.30pm.  It will also open on an appointment basis if any one requires that!

The young people were given a grant of £2,000 to purchase dresses,  and then won a further £500 to set up the shop.

This is the first of its kind  - “An affordable prom shop run for young people by young people”.
