Secondment Opportunities with Bradford Birth to 19 TSA

We are offering two-year full or part time secondments for outstanding practitioners who want to play a key role in shaping the future of Bradford’s teaching workforce.

From September 2015, Bradford Birth to 19 TSA will be training over 100 student teachers in many Bradford primary schools.

Bradford Birth to 19 is led by St Edmund’s Nursery School, a National Teaching School working in close partnership with many of Bradford’s best schools. Designated as a School Centre for Initial Teacher Training (SCITT), we are able to train and recommend for QTS.

Our training programme involves learning through professional development based in the classroom, listening to and observing some of Bradford’s best teachers, in around 20 of Bradford nursery, primary and special schools.

Our vision is to produce NQTs who’ll become outstanding career teachers in Bradford.

We are looking for:

Specialist SCITT tutors in Maths, English, Early Years (with experience of the full 3-7 age phase), SEND, Science, and the Arts and Foundation subjects. We anticipate the salary for this role to be in the range L5-7.

You will:

  • Be involved in leading and supporting school-based training days, especially those related to your subject specialism
  • Write training materials for these days
  • Provide subject specialist input for trainees
  • Support a cohort of 6 schools and 12 trainees
    • Carrying out lesson observations
    • Agreeing standards judgements with schools
    • Providing support for schools in mentoring and coaching
    • Interviewing and recruiting new cohort trainees
    • Supporting other TSA activities: research, joint practice development, school improvement

 

We also have opportunities for Lead SCITT Mentors (likely to be the equivalent of 0.2 FTE) who will

  • Support a cohort of 6 schools and 12 trainees
    • Carrying out lesson observations
    • Agreeing standards judgements with schools
    • Providing support for schools in mentoring and coaching
