Session 1 - Into Film Literacy CPD 13 March 9:30 - 15:00

Film is a powerful tool to engage young people, capture their imaginations and bring the written word to life. Our programme places film at the heart of education to engage and challenge students and bring texts to life. Our training demonstrates the benefits of using film as text to develop learners' critical thinking, analytical and contextualisation skills. These skills are equally applicable to and transferable between film and literary texts. As film is both visual and auditory, learners develop skills of description, deduction, inference and the ability to decode contexts and translate images and sound into words.

Session 2 - Into Film Filmmaking CPD 20 March 9:30 - 15:00

Filmmaking enables learners to develop a wide range of exciting, creative curricular and employable skills. Our Filmmaking Programme emphasises film as a teaching tool to encourage deep and active learning, and facilitates young people taking control of their own learning processes. Filmmaking can improve not only imaginative and technical skills, but also curricular attainment through development of cross-curricular literacy, communication, critical thinking and problem solving abilities. Through filmmaking, learners also improve organisational and entrepreneurial skills and learn to work as part of a team.

Please note that as these sessions are free delegates need to provide their own lunch.
