The Light Fantastic -British Science Week STEM Workshops 17-19 March

A series of interactive STEM workshops 17-19 March at the University of Bradford and the National Media Museum, to celebrate British Science Week, National Demo Day and the International Year of Light.

Get hands-on and discover more about the curious science of light in this action-packed activity day where KS3 pupils will become "Science Demonstrators" to a very well informed KS2 audience....

Key Stage 2

Morning

Pupils will take part in exciting science shows and workshops at the National Media Museum, themed on the science of light. They will also get a chance to explore the museums many interactive galleries.

Afternoon

KS2 explore show-and-tell stands set up by Key Stage 3 pupils. Key Stage 3 have spent the morning designing experiments to demonstrate the many strange and interesting behaviours of light.  Key Stage 2 carry out these experiments and vote for their favourite.

Key Stage 3

Morning

The morning is spent in laboratories at the University of Bradford.  Pupils will work in groups each investigating a different strange or interesting behaviour of light.  They will develop an activity or experiment to demonstrate and explain the effect to their young audience.

Afternoon

Moving to the National Media Museum, each group will have some space to set up their experiment. They will deliver their activity to Key Stage 2 pupils from local schools, who will be voting for their favourite.

The day runs from 10:00 to 14:30
