EYFS half day conference: Introducing Bradford’s Effective IT Curriculum

The Curriculum Innovation team have been working in consultation with Tony Woods (independent EYFS consultant) and some fantastic EYFS practitioners from schools across Bradford to develop an effective IT curriculum for the Early Years.

Supporting development towards the Early Learning Goals and potential for children to excel with technology, the conference will consider the ELG and beyond statements. ELG ‘children recognise that a range of technology is used in places such as homes and schools. They select and use technology for particular purposes.’ Beyond the ELG ‘children find out about and use a range of everyday technology. They select appropriate applications that support an identified need – for example in deciding how best to make a record of a special event in their lives, such as a journey on a steam train.’

On this half day conference we will introduce the new Bradford curriculum and we will investigate how to make effective use of a range of technology, content, software and apps including whiteboard software, online content and tablet devices (specifically iPads) to impact on learning and development in the Early Years.

We will look at 5 specific areas where technology can impact on learning outcomes. These areas are:-

  • Digital Cameras in the Early Years
  • Sound in the Early Years
  • Tablets in the Early Years
  • Remote and Programmable Toys in the Early Years
  • Computer/laptops/IWBs/Plasmas in the Early Years.
