This training package is designed to provide schools with a background knowledge of the role of the Emergency Management Team including historical school emergencies. It will develop participants’ knowledge of developing a School Emergency Management Team
(SEMT) including roles and responsibilities such as coordination of the emergency, business continuity, log keeping, communications, media management, resources and welfare. It aims to further develop participants’ understanding of how to plan, respond and
recover from a school emergency. There will be an evaluation process, which will inform future training for schools and further planning.
Included in the package is the production of a comprehensive guidance document, a school emergency plan template, delivery of this two hour session and evaluation of the session. There will be ongoing support from the Emergency Management Team throughout
the school’s plan writing process and individual plan reviews and comments once developed by the school.
