Updated Public Health Guidance on Ebola risk assessments

I would like to bring your attention to updated information from Public Health England (PHE) regarding Ebola advice and risk assessment for educational, childcare and young persons' settings.

This follows the previous guidance as made available via Bradford Schools Online on 27 August 2014.

There have been no cases of Ebola virus disease being contracted in the UK. I should also like to emphasise that, at the time of writing, PHE and the Department of Health advise that it remains unlikely but not impossible that people infected in Guinea, Liberia or Sierra Leone could arrive in the UK.

The attached guidance document includes a flowchart to inform the assessment of unwell individuals in educational and childcare settings and I would ask that headteachers, members of school management teams, senior members of childcare and early years services and other members of staff as appropriate familiarise themselves with the guidance.

Anyone who has concerns is encouraged to get in touch with the West Yorkshire PHE Health Protection Team – Tel: 0113 386 0300 (duty desk) or 0114 304 9843 (out of hours) and ask for public health on-call.
