Cape UK Film in the Primary Classroom Event - Thursday 20 November

Primary Schools are invited to take part in this day of presentations and experiential workshops that give you the support and inspiration to introduce film into literacy lessons in your own classroom. The event is being held at the Carriageworks Theatre, Millennium Square, Leeds.

To give you an idea of what will be on offer here’s the agenda for the day:

09:15 - 09:45: Registration and Coffee

09:45 - 10:00: Housekeeping and introduction (CapeUK)

10:00 - 10:30: Keynote: Dr Becky Parry, Lecturer in Education and Childhood Studies, University of Leeds - Dr Parry will examine the impact of including popular culture in the literacy classroom on learning progression - including Q & A      

10:30 - 11:00: Paul Scott (Curriculum Innovation Service, Bradford) – The impact of the Bradford Primary Film Literacy Project on literacy attainment. Denise Evans (Open Futures) – Filmit programme

11:20 - 12:30: David Bunting – Animator - Story creation using technology - story boarding and animation

12:30 - 12:50: Into Film – Film Club, Resources, Filmmaking, Watching Film abd CPD

12:50 - 13:00: Discussion

13:45 - 14:45: Workshops: practical activities that you can use back in the classroom including practical film-making skills, technology, animation, story and film, all designed to enhance teaching and learning

14:50 - 15:50: Workshops repeated

15:50 - 16:15: Plenary and close
