Salix Finance Funding for Maintained Schools
Salix offer 100% interest free capital for school energy efficiency projects and can have a payback time up to 8 years.
In partnership with the Department of Education, Salix Finance provides funding to reduce energy bills through the installation of energy efficiency technologies. The funding is provided through an interest free loan, which is repaid using the saving from
the school’s energy bills
What can Salix be used for ?
Salix can be used on energy efficiency projects such as:
- Building Management Systems
- Computers and IT Solutions
- Heating Solutions, Ventilation and Cooling
- Hand Dryers
- Hot water Solutions
- Laboratory Upgrade
- LED, lighting, Lighting controls and upgrades
- Swimming Pool Covers
- Voltage Management

Energy Heroes provide teachers with high quality resources that enable pupils to achieve high standards for data handling and problem solving skills. There objectives are to;

Go Green Tree Schools Award! Free help and support to schools from the Woodland Trust
Do you love trees? Do you want your pupils to love trees? The Woodland Trust has created The Green Tree Schools Award to encourage outdoor learning and 1000 schools across the region are being given a unique chance to nurture and inspire a new generation
of nature lovers, with the help of Woodland Learning Officer Mel Frances
Mel can offer free specialist advice, support and encouragement to schools to get out with pupils to visit woods, plant trees and teach them about the importance of nature.
The award allows schools to gain points for completing exciting and educational activities such as tree planting, photography, art and recycling and progress through bronze, silver and gold levels to the prestigious platinum award.
Any school can sign up and you can email Mel to see if your school is eligible for extra support and additional free resources, such as wildlife identification guides and a curriculum based resource pack.
