The DSP will be lead by a specialist autism teacher and have highly trained support staff and dedicated rooms available. It will enable children with high levels of need related to autism to benefit from a mainstream experience. Each child in the DSP will
have an individual programme setting the balance between the mainstream classroom and specialist teaching in their DSP base that is right for them.
The DSP is scheduled to open September 2012. It will add to the DSP provision for students with autism already available in the Bradford District at Denholme Primary, Holy Family (Keighley), Parkside (Cullingworth) and Grange Technology College.
The Headteacher of Carrwood Primary, Hilary Beards commented, "We are delighted to be given the opportunity to extend the provision we already offer at Carrwood Primary School and look forward to the opening of the DSP in September 2012".
