9.00 – 12.30 Attachment Aware Schools Conference

1.30 -2.30 Resilience film Screening

2.30-3.30 Designated Teacher for Children Looked After and Previously Looked After update

We are asking for a small fee of £25.00 per person to attend, schools will be invoiced prior to the event.

The key note speaker will be none other than international best selling author Louise Michelle Bombèr - author of ‘What about me?’, Inside I’m hurting’ and many other highly acclaimed books. Louise is a leading authority on the subject of attachment and throughout her extensive career has qualified as a specialist teacher, a child and adult therapist and a Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapist. In addition there will also be a speech from one of Louise’s associate specialist teachers who will be sharing her experience of how, as an assistant head teacher, she was responsible for leading a primary school to become  Attachment Aware and Trauma Informed.

Some of our local schools have already started on their journey towards becoming Attachment Aware and Trauma Informed and now have trained Attachment Leads working strategically to implement an attachment philosophy.  A number of them will be sharing their journey so far including the many benefits they are seeing. There will also be a short Q and A session after each speaker.

We are now learning much more about how Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE’s) are affecting children and young people and how in turn this is predicting not only their health outcomes but their life expectancy! Following lunch we will be showing the powerful and ground-breaking short documentary ‘Resilience’ for those who have not yet had the opportunity to see it.

Following on from this we will have an update for our designated teachers for Children Looked After to share our new personal education plan and review format which will be in place from September.

We want all Bradford schools to be a part of the movement to become Attachment Aware and Trauma Informed so that we can help them to see ‘behaviour as communication’.  This in turn will lead to them being truly inclusive in reaching their most disengaged or “difficult” pupils, particularly where those pupils have experienced abuse, neglect or other trauma which can have such a detrimental impact on their learning and ultimately their life chances.

Be part of the revolution to change the lives of Bradford’s vulnerable children and young people – join us!
