Nationally, there is a significant gender pay gap of 18.4% and a recruitment and retention crisis with around 12% of teachers leaving the profession in 2015-16. Clearly, we need to keep our very best teachers and leaders in the profession through effective,
timely support at key moments in their career.
This support is targeted at current or aspiring women school leaders and aspiring who are either pregnant or currently on maternity leave in any Lancashire or West Yorkshire school. The programme aims to support colleagues to return from maternity leave
into leadership positions or to continue their career progression towards leadership. The programme offers two conferences that will support the participants to consider full- and part-time leadership, flexible working, maintaining a work-life balance and
their own well-being during and after pregnancy.
The afternoon conference and subsequent network meeting will be hosted at hotels in Leeds and Bradford and, following the supportive expert workshops and dinner, will provide the participants with access to the leisure facilities, including swimming
pool, sauna and steam room, during the evening.
