The national SEN calculation is shown below the funding allocations in the Additional Notes section of the 2nd page of Section 251 Budget Statement for both primary and secondary schools. Notional SEN funding is included in the I01 funding total. The funding allocation shown in a schools budget statement is the proportion of a school’s budget that is ‘notionally’ allocated for Special Educational Needs (SEN); it is expected to be used to:

· meet the needs of pupils with low-cost, high-incidence SEN (School Action, Action Plus and children with Statements / EHCPs of a value less than £6,000), and

· contribute, up to the first £6,000, towards the additional costs of provision for pupils with high needs


The example below is for a primary school but is structured in the same way for secondary schools with different %’s allocated via each factor (and not including Early Years funding EYSFF)
