An overview of the Children & Families Act

The Government is changing services for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and disabilities (SEND). These changes form part of the Children and Families Act.

The main changes will be:

A ‘Local Offer’ will be produced providing information about available services to children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities and their families in Bradford district.Read more about the Local Offer here. 

Statements of Special Educational Needs will be replaced with a new Single Education, Health & Care Plan for children and young people aged birth to 25 for as long as the young person remains in education and learning. Read more about Education, Health & Care Plans here.  

Children and young people entitled to a Single Education, Health and Care Plan will be able to ask for their support to be provided through a personal budget. Read more about personal budgets here.
