For Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCO) in Private, Voluntary and Independent settings

 

 

 

1. Training – role and responsibilities

  • Attend Role of the SENCO training
  • Attend SENCO Forums
  • Request in - house bespoke training
  • Contact Equality & Access Officer

2.  Special Educational Needs (SEN) Code of Practice policies and procedures

 

  • Special Educational Needs (SEN) Register
  • Follow the Code of Practice
  • Individual Education Plan (IEP) – Specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, time limited (SMART) targets discussed and reviewed with parents
  • Differentiation of practice, environment and Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

3.  Early Years Inclusion Panel (EYIP)

  • Equality & Access Officer support to complete paperwork
  • Keep a record of children receiving EYIP funding
  • Remember deadlines!
  • Attend SENCO forums for advice and updates

4. Partnership with parents/carers – be proactive
